Are you ready to lead a successful Apple rollout in your school?

This checklist follows the four key pillars of a successful Apple programme: Plan, Prepare, Deploy, and Support.

1. Vision & Strategy (Plan)

  • We have a clear vision for how iPad or Mac will enhance teaching and learning.
  • Our strategy links to curriculum goals and whole-school improvement priorities.
  • Leaders and staff understand why we’re investing in Apple, not just what we’re buying.
  • We’ve identified digital learning champions to lead across the school.

2. Infrastructure & Readiness (Prepare)

  • Wi-Fi and internet bandwidth have been assessed and can support multiple Apple devices.
  • We understand the role of Apple School Manager and an MDM for seamless deployment.
  • Integration with existing systems, such as Apple TV for wireless display, is included in our plan.
  • We’ve mapped out how Apple devices will slot into everyday workflows (teaching, admin, communication).
  • Safeguarding, filtering, and device security are all built into the design.

3. Deployment & Lifecycle (Deploy)

  • Device rollout will use zero-touch enrolment to reduce setup time.
  • Updates, apps, and settings will be managed centrally, not left to individual staff.
  • We’ve got a process to track, audit, and secure devices throughout their lifecycle.
  • A clear 3–5 year refresh and replacement plan is in place.

4. Training & Ongoing Support (Support)

  • Teachers will receive training on the effective classroom use of iPad or Mac.
  • Technical staff have been trained on Apple School Manager, MDM, and deployment workflows.
  • Teachers know technical troubleshooting won’t fall on them.
  • Professional learning opportunities are ongoing, not one-off sessions.
  • We have a reliable support pathway, either in-house or with a trusted partner.

Leadership & Measurement

  • SLT have visibility of rollout progress and device usage.
  • We’ve defined what success looks like: engagement, teaching impact, and outcomes.
  • There’s a clear process to review, adapt, and scale based on evidence and feedback.

If you can tick most of these… you’re well placed to deliver a smooth and effective Apple programme.

If gaps remain… working with an Apple services partner can save time, reduce cost, and keep learning front and centre.
