Edgebrough School’s Class Ready Journey

Engaging young learners in maths is not always easy. The subject is demanding and, in some cases, less relatable to children than more practical areas of the curriculum. Mathematics has also been updated during the latest run of reforms.

A smoother, smarter way to deliver a parent-funded 1:1 iPad programme

Edgebrough School has always been ambitious about creating the right digital environment for students. But with a busy network team and a rapidly growing number of devices, the school needed a rollout approach that would protect learning time, reduce administrative pressure, and make technology accessible without overwhelming parents or staff.

Partnering with Select through the Class Ready programme delivered exactly that.

“The difference Class ready made was immediate.”

– Lee Barnard, Network Manager, Edgebrough School

From the outset, Edgebrough knew they wanted a deployment that felt professional, consistent, and manageable. Previous rollouts required weeks of device preparation, labelling, and troubleshooting, time that simply wasn’t available anymore. With Class Ready, that changed.

Every element of the school’s selected digital learning bundle, iPad, case, and accessories, was consolidated and pre‑staged by Select at their warehouse. Bundles were then individually boxed for each student and shipped directly to the school ahead of the handout day.

“When those boxes arrived, everything was configured exactly as we’d hoped. No surprises, no last-minute fixes. It meant we could focus on supporting students, not wrestling with devices.”

– Lee Barnard

A Seamless Deployment Experience

Prestaging that removes the heavy lifting

Select’s Class Ready team enrolled every device into the school’s MDM, applied the school’s configuration, grouped accessories for each student, and ensured that all equipment arrived ready to use straight out of the box. This meant the IT team no longer had to spend evenings and weekends preparing hundreds of devices; instead, they could step into the rollout confident and in control.

One box per child

Each student received a clearly labelled box containing everything they needed for the year ahead. The consistency of the bundle brought a sense of excitement and pride during the onsite handout—and reduced confusion in the first days of use.

Seeing each student open their box and get started without issues… that’s when it really hit how much time we’d saved.”

Parent-Funded, Without the Parent Pressure

Although Class Ready includes an optional parent purchasing portal, Edgebrough opted not to use it for this programme. Even so, Select managed all parent communications relating to:

  • Technical support
  • Device setup and troubleshooting
  • Insurance
  • Warranty queries
  • Replacement processes

This removed a substantial layer of administrative responsibility from the school. Lee explains it simply:

Parents now go straight to Select—and they get the answers they need quickly. It’s taken a huge weight off the IT team and the school office.”

A Lighter Workload and a Stronger Start for Students

By removing the complexity of staging, consolidating, configuring, and supporting devices, Edgebrough’s IT staff were able to concentrate on what matters most: supporting teaching and learning.

The standardised bundle ensured:

  • A consistent classroom experience
  • Fewer technical barriers for students
  • Stronger confidence among teachers
  • A smoother transition into digital learning routines

And with Select handling ongoing parental support, the school’s helpdesk saw a dramatic reduction in device related tickets.

Looking Ahead

Edgebrough’s experience with Class Ready has reshaped how the school approaches technology rollouts. With a streamlined process, consistently high-quality devices, and reliable parental support, the school now has a sustainable model for future cohorts.

Class Ready didn’t just deliver devices, it delivered clarity, confidence, and capacity
